led by Dr Gilbert Ategeka, Chief Executive Officer for our health department, we conducted the health camp to rise more awareness on communicable diseases mostly affecting the community and the country at large.

We did screening, checking, testing as well as counselling to our people.
The biggest challenge we normally find out in the community is stigma actually this is a nation wide vice.

Some people fear to go for testing especially HIV because of stigma and segregation once they find out to be positive but that’s our role to talk to the community and try to fight above mentioned challenges since everyone can get sick anytime if prevention measures aren’t put in place.

We also encouraged people to practice regular health center visits for whole body checkups, since some communicable diseases can hide in the body and show up in the late stages which can be difficult to control and treat.

For the children, we did screening and checkup for malnutrition, measles, whooping cough and Diphtheria as well as guiding their parents and guardians on what to do.
